Looking for an DWG or DXF conversion
tool requiring Intelligence?

CAD Design Software has developed powerful, semi-automatic intelligent conversion processes of taking raw DWG/DXF artwork entities and adding the intelligent infrastructure to identify all the areas such as, bondwire information, single or multi-die, slope downset, stackup material and structure, signal, pins and net information and much more. The concept is to take these raw entities and identify them with user-selected input. The user will then give the software a roadmap and recipe of how the design is made up and how it will process it into something intelligent.

After the re-intelligizing process, other typical design tasks that would take hours are now available using time-saving routines available in EPD. The final setup/prepare is the compatibility check for the 3rd party program that will receive the data. CAD Design Software has developed software programs to setup and verify these routines that will allow the user to quickly setup those required parameters and attributes and send to host application directly from EPD.

The Electronics Packaging Designer or EPD design engine will turn AutoCAD into an intelligent EDA design environment. Not only can EPD create an intelligent working environment and convert raw artwork into full design packages semi-automatically, but EPD has many unique and enhanced EDA-type tools available to make design modifications, remove or replace entities, update die and wires for diameter, material and bond end types, compare current and existing netlists, run detailed reports for common pre-production tasks for assembly and manufacturing, perform accurate Design Rule Clearance checking routines, import design information from MS Excel files, and much more.

But Wait, there is more…

EPD is not just a conversion tool but is a fully developed, world-class EDA design system capable of creating PCB, Ceramic, Flex and BGA IC designs from scratch (concept to completion) or building on raw DWG/DXF from all types of Lead frame packages. A much larger feature is that EPD utilizes the most used graphic design engine, AutoCAD, and also supports. Because of the graphic platform these engines offer, there are no limits for  Units, Layers, Arcs Shapes, polyline boundaries or overlaps. Also when used in the design for, Specialized IC packages, odd-shaped RF circuits and nets, Flexible circuits or complex Lead Frame patterns that may be impossible to create or process in other EDA design software products. EPD works on the shapes and layers of all entities and can assign them each a unique attribute that will give the shape(s) connectivity and include them on all required processes for the object(s).

CDS has assembled tool sets called Designer Suites that contain all the tools and processes to get your raw DWG or DXF data ready to use the tools offered in the EPD design environment. For example, the design may need adjustments to lengths or add traces, replace parts, reduce a tapering segment, import a new Netlist and apply it to the design, run advanced DRC routines and create custom DRC groups for multiple objects.

EPD tools take the raw artwork and layers, re-use the text elements for pins and signals, use lines that will be converted into the more versatile CDSpolyline, and create a base intelligent design layout that can be quickly and accurately modified, updated, DRC checked, post reports for assembly and manufacturing needs and output to GDSII or Gerber. Even at this point, the final designs that were either built from scratch in EPD or imported from raw artwork that was run through the re-intelligize process.
